Enjoying Summer

 I can’t believe that August is almost done, summer is quickly fading and fall is just around the corner; I’m not sure where the time has gone.  As I looked at the landscape around me I’m beginning to notice the small changes in color and wishing it was early spring again.  I’m just plain going to enjoy each day and look forward to the cooler evenings. Some of our friends invited us over for dinner and just last week we were sitting around a bonfire toasting marshmallows for s’mores.  While it’s not the most healthy treat is was fun to sit around the fire sharing memories and stories with good friends, at least until the mosquito’s came out. 

This week end my husband and I will be heading “up north” like regular Minnesotan’s to do some fishing, my friends are letting us use their home in Hackensak, MN for a relaxing weekend before I tackle a new work project.  I hope we catch a big one which in my husband’s mind means a big Muskie, he’s been searching for that big one for years now which reminds me that what’s important in life is not so much the goal as the journey getting there.  I’m including a picture of a muskie taken this summer when my nephew Brian caught another Big One while fishing with his Uncle Ray (my husband).

I hope you have plans to enjoy the rest of summer with family and friends, I know I plan on it and if you are not planning a trip there’s always the Minnesota State Fair starting this week. 

Yesterday I spent all day with a friend at the hospital, being her support person while she had surgery.  I provided medical advocacy but mostly I provided a hand of friendship while we waited to learn about the results of suspicious test results, we were so grateful that the surgeon had good news.  It was good to get my friend home, tucked in for a good nights rest as I handed her over to another friend to stay with her until morning. 

The sharing of life events just reminds me to enjoy the moment and build great memories while we have the time.
